Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas~~! From the little Fluffy Santa~!! XD

and Happy Holiday~

Anniversary Meal @ The Hill, Damansara Heights

It was our second anniversary 2 days back.. Initially, I thought of planning a short trip to somewhere as I have been trapped in KL for quite some times.. However, the BF gave that lazy face.. T.T Instead of a short trip, I was looking around for a nice dining place.. One of my friends recommended this place in Damansara Heights, near to my beloved old college.. He said it was nice, with good ambience (He always have drinks there with his friends~) It is called The Hill.. Heard that it was opened not too long ago, probably last year and it was converted into a restaurant cum bistro from a bungalow..

It was raining heavily.. Raindrops! Looks like snow.. XD

The place was nice but you’ll need to climb staircases up to their restaurant or lounge area.. Oh yea, you’ll need to let the valet to do the parking for your car, and it costs around RM10 or RM9 (I wasn’t the one who paid.. :p). They’ll just simply park your car at the nearby housing area but you have no other choice unless you want to park far away and walk there..

Open area lounge/restaurant…

It was raining the whole evening, what a spoiler.. We sat at the open area at the first floor of the restaurant, supposed to go to the second floor which is a closed area as it was all wet on the first floor.. First timer, didn’t know where should we head to..

Some seating area outside.. Toilet?!

The service by the staff was friendly but not too attentive.. We waited a while before they gave us the menu.. There was only one server to serve that few tables at that area.. We waited for quite some time before the server was free to take our order.. (The food were served quite fast though~) They serve western as well as Japanese cuisine.. :)

The Hill’s food and beverages menu~

They lighted the candle on the table when we first reached.. Haha, considered as our candle light dinner la.. The ambience was quite good before the crowds came.. Halfway eating, people started to fill up the place.. It was quite happening by the time we left..

Candle light dinner, romantic! XD

I googled around about this restaurant and found out that people like to order their Watermelon Slush (RM45), so I tried that.. Hmm, I think the combination was a little bit weird.. Watermelon, vodka and lychee.. Didn’t make a good combination but the outlook is attractive la..

My heart~ :p

We shared the Soft Shell Crab Salad (RM18) for appetizer.. A lot of greens, the crab was very nice and crispy but very less.. The dressing went well with the salad, overall, it’s a good combination.. XD

*Droolz*

I ordered their Hill Signature Pan Fried Salmon (RM38) which turned out to be very good.. Very big piece of salmon~ Served with sautéed spinach and tomato cubes.. The salmon was cheesy and creamy, not to mention, fresh~

So big piece!

The BF had Pan Seared Black Cod (RM48).. It was nice nice nice! Served with fried potato chips which were very crispy, and some greens (again!).. The cod fish was quite small portion but it was very good.. The skin was fried crisply and the cod melted in the mouth! It was served in some sweet sauce similar to Teriyaki.. We enjoyed this dish very much.. =D

Very naisssss~ =P’

This marks our second year together and I had a great time! The BF treated me for Thai Massage and Starbucks on the afternoon as well~ Happy Anniversary~ <3

Us with the heart~ XD

Umai Bento House @ Kuchai Entrepreneur Park

Hello folks, I’m back~ XD

Anyway, you guy should know that those website offering great discount coupons are everywhere on the Net now.. Seems like everyone is talking about them.. Few weeks back, my colleague showed us this deal on everyday.com.my and asked us whether we are interested in buying it.. It was a deal on Umai Bento House’s set with a bento and a cup of Milk Tea for only RM9.90.. Since the photos looked quite nice and it sounded worth, so we decided to buy~ XD

Looks worth! The picture looks tempting too!

However, the deal would only start on 1st of Aug, so we set that day for redeeming the coupons.. Since, I read on the conditions that prior reservation is required, so I called them 2 days in advance to make reservation.. I got this wtf face after I talked to their staff who answered the call.. Here it went:
Me: I would like to make a reservation for next Monday at 12:30pm…
Staff: The everyday coupon?
Me: Yeah…
Staff: I’m sorry but the deal only starts on the 1st of August..
Me: Isn’t next Monday the 1st of August?
Staff: Yeah….
……………………….. =.="
(After he finished asking me on the time and number of pax)……
(Long silence……………)
Me: Don’t you need my name or contact number or anything?
Staff: Oh.. Yeah.. Can I have your name please?

Tsk.. Wasted my gas….. =.=

Sorry la, he really wasted my handphone credits.. =.=" Anyway, we went there and parking was a hassle there.. The traffic was bad at the entrepreneur park area during lunch time.. Most of the cars double parked.. Luckily, we found a nice spot just opposite the restaurant (illegal one of course…)

Easy to spot.. Umai Bento House in Kuchai Entrepreneur Park.. Near to Winsoon..

We were greeted by the witchy faced Lady Boss.. Who gave us their menu and told us that they didn’t have the special offer menu yet as they have yet to print any.. =.=" If they know the offer is going to start on the 1st of August, they should have prepared it earlier right? Moreover, she was kinda confused on which items are on the promotion and which are not.. or she was just trying to confuse us.. One moment said this is included, another moment said it’s not.. We felt so stressed over the lunch…. =.= Basically, the Teppanyaki and the Marmite set were included..

The menu she showed us and said "only this and this and this can be selected".. When we selected, she said "this is not included".. wtf..

Not many choices though..

Having a hard time to chose what to eat…

For drinks, we were told to choose from four flavours with funny names and without any description.. The staffs didn’t even take the initiative to explain to us what were the differences.. At the end, we just simply chose by their names..

Nagasaki? Not kena bombed liao meh? Hokkaido milk tastes different from Nagasaki one?

While waiting for the food, we were telling like how bad was their service.. XD

Unrelated.. Boss.. XD

If it is not because of the Everyday.com.my’s coupon, we don’t think we would stop by this restaurant…

Unrelated.. Testing someone’s Samsung Galaxy S2..

Tada~ I ordered the Teppanyaki Teriyaki Chicken set (The Lady Boss forced me to order that, I was supposed to have the beef one.. FML) It looked nice though, came with rice and a bowl of Miso soup.. However, taste wise… It was bad…. The beansprouts were tasteless, so did the chicken pieces.. There was only a slight sweet taste minus all the teriyaki taste.. I could hardly swallow them all lor although I like teriyaki…

Looks nice wor… Taste ewww….

The Marmite Chicken was just ok.. Just like those marmite dishes we ordered at the Chinese restaurant.. But this was not served hot, so my colleague reckoned that those we had outside were better…

Served like korean food pulak.. =.="

Same goes to Marmite Fish la…. Same thing just that they changed the meat lor…. Moreover, I thought it supposed to be a bento set.. But they didn’t bother to serve it in a bento…. No fun already lor~~ >.<"

Hmm.. Looks appetizing or not?

The most controversial dish of the day.. The Teppanyaki Beef set.. We supposed that teppanyaki is a Japanese dish, but it was served with the Chinese tasteless vegetable soup.. When we asked the Lady Boss about it, she defended her menu and said that this was the Chinese style Teppanyaki as they serve not only Japanese Bentos but also Chinese ones.. She somemore showed us the newspaper articles la, her menu la…. Doesn’t the teppanyaki is a Japanese word? If it’s a Chinese dish, please call it as "Tit Ban" Beef.. lol… Anyway, the main point here was that, if changing the soup to a Miso soup can make the customers happier, why couldn’t she do that? Instead, was trying to argue with us that it’s a Chinese dish… I mean, the soup doesn’t cost that much right, customer’s satisfaction is less important that her Miso soup? =.="

This is a Chinese dish? Actually it tasted OK.. It has a pinch of spiciness, better than the chicken a lot..

Seriously, with the quality of the food and also the service.. We guaranteed that we won’t be back for more lor.. This time gives face to the everyday.com.my’s coupon only… XD

The coupons~~~~ =D Still got many more deals that look tempting~ XD

China Trip 2011 - Hangzhou

Aloha~ I’m back at last.. Was a little bit tied up with work and laziness.. XD After a few weeks break, let me continue my Grandmother’s story on our trip to Hangzhou.. I mentioned that we departed from Shanghai around 2pm, so by the time we reached the hotel in Hangzhou it was already 5++pm.. We stayed in Hanting as well, but this time is their international inn which is obviously cheaper and ciplak.. XD The room was very small… :p

After checked-in, we walked to the street across the road for dinner.. There were few restaurants there.. Hangzhou was far colder than Shanghai.. I walked on the street for 10 minutes and I started shivering… =.=" So some hot dishes for dinner was really a savior.. >.<"

It was great to have some beers to warm up your stomach on winter.. I prefer the blue color snow beer though.. XD

Since it was just 7++pm, so we decided to walk to Xihu (西湖).. Xihu is within walking distance from the inn.. It was a big mistake though because it was really cold….. I shivered while walking and my nose/lips were numbed… T.T But the lights of the city was nice, seeing them from the broken bridge (斷橋) at Xihu.. :D I really couldn’t stand the cold anymore so we walked back to the inn and stayed indoor.. Watched some Chinese reality shows which were addictive though.. =P

Night view at Xihu..

The next morning was cold too! The water on the street was frozen.. It was a really sunny day, but… the sun in Malaysia is warmer.. =P Better than nothing though..

First morning in Hangzhou with the freaking cold breeze… >.<

We walked around the streets to see what can we get for breakfast, and we found a local market.. There were you tiao (油條) and some fried buns (燒餅) sold.. the fried buns looked and tasted like roti canai.. =P

Roti Canai? XD

We then walked our way to the Xihu which was about 15 minutes away.. It was freaking cold…. =.=" It was weekend so the Xihu area was quite crowded with tourists.. But the view of the lake was really nice under the sunlight with some breeze (Very cold wind actually.. >.<")

Xihu morning breeze~ =D

Too bad that it was winter, so the flowers and trees didn’t blossom.. It has another peaceful clean feel though.. Don’t really know how to describe.. It has some kind of lonely feelings.. Haha, maybe because of the trees are bald.. =P There were 10 famous sceneries in Xihu (西湖十景).. But most of them look the same during winter.. I think Spring will be the best season to visit this place.. Some are famous for seeing the moon during Autumn.. Blah and blah and blah..

I saw some Aunties and Uncles were having dancing lessons here on weekdays.. o.O

So we walked around the lake.. Funny, I didn’t feel tired walking in Winter.. We walked for half a day, saw half of the lake but still didn’t feel that tired besides my lips were frozen that I had to buy a mask to wear.. Those cotton type of surgical mask.. >.<" Saw this 梅花 on our way.. What’s that called in English? =P The BF said that it only blossoms on Winter and it smells really good.. And true enough, I like the smell very much.. XD And they were all over the place~

Plum flowers?

The BF insisted that we enter the Yue Fei’s Temple (岳飛廟).. Yue Fei was a famous General back then.. Seems like the BF worships him alot.. =P I don’t know.. All their warriors look the same to me.. XD

What a pose.. Purposely took it to show his Bro..

Halfway through we stopped by some benches for a short break.. There was once we sat at a place under the sunlight.. It was so warm… I could feel my hands were defrosting.. I never liked sunlight that much, I wished I could stay there longer and I nearly fell asleep.. Nice feel~ =D

Sunlight~~ XD I never liked the Sun so much!

As we really couldn’t stand walking in the cold weather, so we had a brief dinner and headed back to the inn to watch some Chinese programs.. =P It was the BF’s birthday, we bought a slice of cake to celebrate but we forgot to ask for candles.. So we just slumber ate the cake.. XD Feel so sorry for the BF..

The next day, we headed to an ancient-like street in Hangzhou called the Qing He Fang (清河坊).. The street was quite long and crowded..

It was so cold…

There were mainly shops selling Long Jing tea and some souvenirs.. Many workers were sitting outside their shops roasting the tea leaves, attracting the customers.. =D We did stop by one of them to get some as souvenirs..

Long Jing tea..

There was also a stretch of stalls in one of the alleys selling food.. =D Quite a number of variety and I saw them selling odd food.. =P Like rabbit head (wtf?!) and duck blood soup (OMG!)… o.O We tried the ostrich skewer and some Chinese hamburgers.. They tasted normal la..

Chinese McChicken.. =P

Also had some Dong Bo meat (東波肉).. The layer of fatz was so thick and it was bouncy when we shook it.. Wakakaka… Quite nice though.. After walking for a while, we headed back to the inn again for some rests.. (Sorry la, old people cannot walk that long.. Need rests.. XD)

Fatz and oilz…. XD

At night we went out to find our dinner place.. I read from the Internet that The Grandma’s (外婆家) is very famous in Hangzhou.. Saw many positive reviews on their food.. So we chose one of the nearer outlet to visit.. We lost our way there though because it was located at a dark alley.. >.< Luckily, we asked a guy for direction and he pointed us there.. Thanks to those who helped us all the way though~ Chinese are very friendly! Anyway, it was crowded in the restaurant and we waited for around 15 minutes before we could get our seats.. Hmm, the dish was OK only though, I still prefer the dishes we had in the small alley back in Shanghai.. Cheap and delicious! =P

Read a lot of good reviews on this restaurant..

I was quite disappointed that I didn’t have a chance to see snow during the trip as I thought it should snow in Winter.. and….. it snowed on the last day of our trip!! Hooray~!! I remember that morning the BF opened the curtain and I simply asked "Got snow or not?" expecting him say NO.. But he silent for a while and said "Eh! It’s snowing!" Immediately I jumped out from the bed, rushed to the toilet to wash my face and wore all that stupid winter clothing, before dashing out to the street.. XD Excited ma, never saw snow before.. I’m from jungle one OK? XD I was so amazed~ Snowflakes~!!!! And it’s really in hexagon~~ Story books didn’t lie to me~ XD OMG OMG, I was so excited, no word can express my feeling..

OMG.. The real hexagon snowflakes!!!! XD

So we slowly walked to the Xihu to enjoy the snowing scenery.. XD I was like a kid jumping around seeing the snow.. Although it looked like rain.. =P We stopped by Starbucks for breakfast and sat at the glass panel to enjoy the amazing view.. =D

Starbucks pen that the Barista gave me as a gift~ Love it.. =D

Sad that it was the last day, else the street must be all white on the following day.. T.T Really wish we could stay longer.. By around 5pm the street was already in white.. The BF and me collected the snow from the tree leaves and made some snow balls then threw them everywhere.. Wakakaka… Very fun… But the snow was slippery.. >.<" I walked like Doraemon all the time.. It snowed heavily by the time we reached Xiao Shan Airport and it was freaking freaking freaking cold… T.T By the time we boarded the flight, I was dead tired.. And the flight journey was very bumpy that I thought I wouldn’t live to see LCCT.. Wakakaka.. Ok la, we reached safely although I felt like puking on the plane.. XD Nice trip.. A lot of first times.. Although it was really a tiring one.. XD

I love snow~ XD

Happy Valentine’s Day 2011~

Happy Belated Valentine’s Day everyone~ Had a great day? XD I needed to work.. Poor me.. T.T This morning I phoned the BF before work to confirm our destination for the night.. Before I hung up the call, I asked for flowers.. Wakakaka.. Too bad la, know him too well already.. I won’t get it if I don’t ask for it.. T.T Anyway, he went and bought it from The Gardens when we reached there.. Love the decoration very much because they used pink wrapping paper and the roses are nicely blossomed~ XD

Red roses~ *heart*

We decided to have our V-day dinner at Garden Cafe as it’s newly opened and we never dined in this outlet before.. Nice decorations as always but the food is really so-so… Love the atmosphere lor.. They offered V-day menu for RM199++ per couple but I think it’s too expensive la, for their food quality.. =P

Their Valentine’s Day menu… I don’t want foie gras! Gross… o.O

I prefer the decor here than the one in One Utama because this one is at an opened area, so it’s like more spacious~ Moreover, it has a second floor.. Nice~

Romantic nyer~~

Love the piano cage in the middle too.. There was a young guy playing piano when we just reached.. Awhile later he disappeared.. >.<"

White piano!

I ordered Soda Green Apple (Around RM10, forgot the price.. =P), which was… slight tasteless.. I could only taste a slight sourness… >.<" The BF had the Mango Blast (Around RM10 too~) which was great.. Blend of Mango and Pineapple.. Sweet and refreshing~

Drinks~

We shared a huge bowl of Salmon Potato Chowder (RM15.90) which was good.. It came with a piece of salmon and roe.. The soup was thick enough and very flavourful.. However, it needed to be finished before it got cold.. Else, it would taste very yucky because it’s really thick.. >.<

The nicest of all… XD

I ordered Chicken Teriyaki (RM18.90)… Nothing special to shout about, the chicken piece was slight burnt though.. The gravy was OK but I still prefer the teriyaki sauce that is cooked by the Japanese restaurants.. =P

Teriyaki… Doesn’t taste like one though..

The BF had the Grilled Baramundi (RM18.90).. Nothing special too.. Ngahaha.. Don’t know how to give comments ler since their food really so-so only..

Baramundi is a type of fish~

For dessert, we shared a Orange Mango Sorbet (RM11.90) which the BF commented that it tasted like the washroom’s air refreshener smell.. o.O I think it’s just…. OK lor…. XD

Errr.. Weird outlook.. XD

That’s all for V-day~ Haha.. Adios~!!!!!!

Happy V-day! Zzzzz….
